Days of The Dragon

Hoi An Foundation

My Good Stuff post for today is actually two organizations, but they work together…one is based in the USA and other in the UK. They are the Hoi An Foundation and the Kianh Foundation.

Both of these organizations work with the Hoi An Orphanage in Central Vietnam. I visited the orphanage on May 12th, 2007. The kids there are very diverse, ranging in age from about 3 up to 18. Some of them have severe disabilities, and some have none at all, and everything in between. I was lucky enough while there to get to spend some time with the younger kids (10 and under), as well as to meet a teenage boy and a young 18 year old woman hoping to go to college. She was busy doing physics homework when I interrupted her for a short chat and to offer some monetary assistance for her schooling.

The children are endearing, and very lovable. They were fascinated at seeing themselves on my video camera’s LCD screen, and really wanted us to sit and play with them, which we did for a little while. It was a wonderful experience, one I hope to repeat. These organizations help these kids in many ways, whether it be with medical care or schooling or a day of fun at the local amusement park. They truly do make these kids lives better than they otherwise would be.

One Puff of Dragon Fire to “Hoi An Foundation”
