Themed Room
I was reluctant at first but I’ve given in. I’ve selected the “Sea Life” theme for Parker’s room. It’s very cute and goes right along with one of my loves, the ocean and the myriad of life contained therein. Jacques Cousteau was my first hero and is still a hero to me, so the ocean is very important to me. I did decide to keep the curtains I already have, which have terrestrial animals on them. The colors are similar, so it looks ok together.
It also goes well with Parker’s background. He will be born in a place where a large portion of the country is coastline and nearly all the country is within a couple of hours of the beach. Seafood and the ocean plays a large role in Vietnamese life, as it will in Parker’s. My brother has a couple of homes in Florida, and Parker and I will undoubtedly visit them and enjoy the beach together.
So, anyway, I spent a couple hours last night building the toy chest and step stool from the “Sea Life” accessories set. I also have the wallpaper border and the lamp.
I decided on a crib as well. It’s a black, wooden crib and will look really great against the soft wall colors in the room. I haven’t decided if I’m going to go with the dresser or the armoire yet. I also started my registry list at Babies R Us. I’m going to go with my sister next week and let her help me pick out some more stuff to put on it.
