Trip Preparation

I know, I know! I don’t even have a referral yet, so how can I be preparing for my travel, already?! Well, it’s simple. I’m the kind of person where if I know something is coming up at some point and I know there are certain things I will need for that I like to get it done and out of the way as soon as possible. For instance, when I get bills, I pay them online the same day I get them. I don’t like having unfinished things looming. I had my home study paperwork done weeks before it was needed. It’s a good feeling to just know it’s done and ready for when I do need it.

In prep for going to Vietnam I just ordered a High Definition camcorder. It’s actually my first camcorder period, but I figured I might as well get the best I can reasonably afford for this most important of trips. Not only do I want a great record of the trip for myself, but I want to film as much as possible for Parker. If he someday comes to me and wants to see what his native country looked like, I want more than still photos (though I’ll have plenty of those, too). I want to show him the sound and the sight of the chaotic traffic in HCMC or Hanoi. I want him to hear the ladies in the market haggling with me and other shoppers. I plan on going back to VN with Parker every few years, but in between I want him to be able to see these videos if he wants. This camera’s picture is amazing. It really does rival the clarity and colors you see in high definition movies or TV shows. I know this was a good decision. It shipped today, so I should have it Thursday or Friday.

Saturday I am going to the IKEA in Pittsburgh. I’m hoping to pick up a few storage things, and maybe some fun lighting or a cool rug. I like IKEA, who doesn’t right? Well, I like IKEA for some reasons other people may not. Sure, I like the low prices, the fun furniture, the quirky names. But, I also love IKEA’s politics. I know this isn’t a political blog, but I’m entitled to mention it now and then. Speaking of politics, I am so proud of my Democrats. In the house we passed all of the promised legislation from the campaign season, ALL OF IT! Increased minimum wage, pass the 9/11 committee’s recommendations that had not been enacted, allow the gov’t to negotiate on drug costs, new ethics legislation, revamp the page program, cut student loan interest rates, rolback some of the subsidies oil companies get…cause you know with 1000% profits last year, they surely can’t need the government’s money. I’m just hoping we can stop Bush from sending even more troops to Iraq. OK, I’m done for now.

Also, I’ve begun making a packing list, and buying a few things from it here and there.

I had my review at work yesterday, it was good. I’m happy with my performance, and so was my boss.
