Fast cars that are fun to drive do not a baby carrying machine make!

Ah, finally the weekend. The weather was really nice yesterday, 54 degrees and total SUN. Of course the weekend is also going to be in the 50s, but total clouds! Oh well, clouds are fine…as long as it’s not freezing cold.

I went shopping at Babies R Us a little while ago…and looked at strollers, again. I figured I should try to get the one I put on my registry in my trunk, as my car (G35 Coupe) is rather small, and the trunk is tiny. Of course it did not fit in the trunk, neither did the next model, or the next, etc. There was like 1 stroller that I actually liked that would fit in the trunk, but with almost no room left for anything else…not good. I mean what if I ever wanted to go somewhere and needed to take something besides the baby, and the diaper bag? Not gonna happen!!! So, at this point I knew I had to do something. I went online and looked at lots of cars. I test drove several cars, I wasted about 10 hours of my life at car dealerships, and then I traded in my baby, my car that I LOVED because my new baby really needed something with more room. But, Daddy needs something that not only has more room, but also has a little power. I ended up leasing for 3 years, a 2007 Honda Pilot 2WD EX, in black with a camel colored interior. I like it a lot, we’re not in love, but I can shack up with this vehicle for three years and be happy. It can hold 8 people in its three rows, it has side curtain airbags in all three rows so it’s very safe…I think I read it’s the highest rated mid-size SUV for safety. But, in addition, it’s also not a fuel hog! They have this new technology that only the 2WD models get where when you are not accelerating hard the engine shuts off 3 of its 6 cylinders, saving lots of gasoline. So, the mileage of my new vehicle will be about the same, maybe even a little better than my G35 (may he find a good owner!). Anyway, it can hold up to 4 car seats using LATCH at one time. This thing has lots of storage room. I can take Parker, all the associated baby stuff, my 110 pound Great Dane, any needed luggage, and still have room to transport a refrigerator. It doesn’t have all the amenities that my G35 had, like the headlights don’t come on all by themselves when it gets dark, and it doesn’t go from 0-60 in 6 seconds….but, it’s got most of the cool stuff it had, and I’m happy with it. And, I don’t have to buy premium grade gasoline anymore, which will save me a little bit of money each month.

As I said in the previous post, I got new pictures of my son-to-be. He is so f*ck*ing adorable. I just melt into a giant smile when I look at his pictures. I also got his baby book this past week. I like it. It’s called “The Story of Me”, and has lots of great pages…and I can add my own, too.

I really felt like there was more to write, but I guess not.
