Mattell – Having Fun While Harming Children

Written By: Jonathan on September 7, 2007 One Puff of Dragon Fire (Comments)

Mattell has become a disgrace to the toy industry, and they don’t really seem to care about that, or about harming our kids. Just this year, over 10 million Mattell toys will have been recalled for containing lead, a substance that is absolutely known to cause serious issues in humans, including nausea, headaches, loss of cognitive ability/brain damage, neurological damage, vomiting, etc…

Toys are NOT supposed to contain lead at appreciable levels. Yet, Mattell has been lax enough in their manufacturing and quality assurance processes that millions of toys containing lead (usually in paint) have not only been produced, but shipped to and sold at retail. And, it’s not like this is something new, we have known about lead poisoning for years.

That Mattell would allow these products to reach the youngest children is hopefully going to be considered criminal.

And, of course, hopefully people will consider buying non-Mattell brands more this holiday season!

I totally agree! I also find it repulsive that they try to sluff off the responsibility onto China, as if the whole country is trying to lead poison our children. Do they have no responsibility in assuring quality?

My sons will not be receiving Mattel toys this holiday season!
