Almost 11 Months Old
Parker will be 11 months old this coming week. He has really taken off - in every sense of the word. He can stand on his own pretty well now, but still has yet to take any steps unassisted. He has started to mimic portions of words, like duck and daddy. He is an expert at opening cabinets, doors, and drawers. He loves being able to hold and feed himself things like crackers. He likes to help you put the spoon in his mouth when feeding him. He’s got down the push motion for toys, instead of just throwing them. He waves at everything and everyone. He delights in a game of “give to daddy - give to Parker”. He loves to laugh - today I had the TV on while we were playing on the floor and he laughed hard when someone on the screen screamed in fright. He loves to climb stairs and pretty much anything else. He has nearly got down the idea of turning around and getting off the couch or my bed feet-first, on his belly.
He now weighs 17 pounds and 11 ounces, and is 28 inches long. He really needs a hair cut, but I’m going to wait as long as possible to get it cut b/c I’m sure he will not enjoy that one bit. He still has 6 teeth, and likes to use them - he test bites me to see my reaction - and he absolutely has a fit of laughter if you let him put his hand in your mouth to touch your teeth, especially if you pretend to bite down.
This weekend we hosted a pre-Thanksgiving Thanksgiving for 8 of our friends. It was a lot of fun. I made the Turkey, stuffing, and a pumpkin pie - the guests each brought a side or a desert. Parker An enjoyed waving at all the people - even those he had never met before. Today, I emptied our aquarium and moved it from the dining room into my office - and it is now set up to house rats - we bought 3 baby girl rats today. They are really cute, and Parker An is so fascinated by them. He likes to watch them scamper around, and he waves at them incessantly. Rats are great pets; they are clean, easy to care for, and love human interaction.
He’s awesome in every way!
