Hague Adoption Convention Ratified

Written By: Jonathan on November 20, 2007 No Puffs of Dragon Fire (Comments)

On November 16, 2007 the Hague Adoption Convention was ratified by the USA. The convention will go into effect on April 1, 2008. The convention is only relevant when both the USA and the country where the child is being adopted from are both signatories. This includes countries such as Guatemala. Vietnam IS NOT at this time a signatory to the Hague Convention, so this will not cause any changes in adoptions occurring from Vietnam.
