Viet Nam Adoptions - Nothing New, Please Move On

As expected, the US government released a statement on adoptions from Viet Nam. Not really anything new, simply a “warning” that the MOU expires in September and that while we all would like for it to be renewed, there is no guarantee that will happen.
The only tidbit of new info (not really new, just more concretely stated) is that the US feels the current MOU would need to be changed before it could be agreed to.
As a reminder, Vietnamese law requires a bilateral agreement with the USA in order for adoptions to take place. Viet Nam has the right to discontinue adoptions at any time. However, currently they are working toward renewal with the USA: hopefully, an agreement can be reached and adoption to the US will continue to be one of the options for orphans in Viet Nam.

Hello there! Great to see another Dad blog out there.
I’m hopeful that they will get the differences worked out in time for my future placement.
