Word Gets Around
It’s interesting how word of a single guy who adopted a son from Viet Nam makes the rounds. Now, the only people who know I adopted Parker are employees of his daycare center. It’s certainly no secret on my end, it’s simply that I have not struck up any friendships with other parents. Yet, in the last two weeks two people have approached me. One woman stopped me in the hall as I was leaving and complimented Parker’s cuteness…then, she asked me if I was single and proceeded to ask if I was interested in meeting a woman she knows for a date or something like that. I respectfully declined and went home with Parker.
Earlier this week I found a red envelope in Parker’s mailbox. Inside was a handwritten note asking me to call a woman b/c she had questions about adopting from Viet Nam. I called her fully expecting an hour long conversation about the joys of adopting and parenting (she has a daughter from China), etc. But, no…it was a very short conversation and she had only a couple of questions. What agency did I use and how long did it take. I answered her questions and tried to elaborate on the process a bit, but she pretty quickly ended the call - she wanted her info and that was it!
