A Vicious Murder
…took place in my home this weekend.
On Sunday morning I noticed lots of squeaking, and then a much quieter than usual rat habitat in my office. After a half hour or so I went to see what was up. I thought maybe I had forgotten to feed them or something and they were fighting over the last bits of food. That is, until I noticed a rat leg on top of one of the houses. I peaked in, and one of the rats had been eviscerated, and dismembered - literally! The stomach and intestines were one place, the legs somewhere else - an arm was reduced to bone with a little tendon hanging off it. This was truly a heinous crime. I was going to remove the victim when I figured that if the murderer had gone through all the trouble and danger of murdering her house-mate that I should let her have the “spoils”.
So, now that my rat population is down to one I think I will just wait for this one to die and retire the cage and stand to the basement to be used again someday when I’m up to it.

I will forever walk more carefully into dark rooms where rats may lurk!
