Blogathy

I am experiencing a serious case of blog posting apathy.

I even took some really cute video of Parker last week singing the ABC song and counting, and just playing. I planned on posting it over the weekend but didn’t even get around to pulling it off the video camera, let alone converting it to a format that can be posted on our blog.

We had a fun weekend even though we mostly stayed home. We’re experiencing a small winter storm today, but it’s supposed to be back at about 50 degrees later in the week. I am just so sick of winter – I can’t wait to go bike riding and plant our garden and all that spring/summer stuff. Parker helped me do laundry, which he loved – although he got kind of freaked out when he pressed the button on the dryer and it started up. He also helped me make a batch of brownies – he’s very interested in cooking! Sunday night we went to my brother’s home for dinner – we brought strawberries and kiwi fruit salad. Parker had lots of fun playing with his cousins. That’s about it, really – boring around here right now.

As usual I had my Vietnamese lesson Saturday. It’s going pretty well. I did pretty good on the listening and reading – my tutor sees some improvement. I’m also doing a little better with remembering vocabulary, though I am hopeless remembering the phrasal words. If there is one thing true about Vietnamese, it is that you can rarely just translate each word in a sentence and have it mean what it is supposed to mean – between the myriad phrasal words and the fact that depending on context the same word can sometimes mean several things. I am making progress, though, and I’m happy about that. Oh, and I totally get confused with the pronoun system. “em”, depending on how it is used and who is speaking can mean he, she, I, you, and can even indicate possession depending on where it’s placed in a sentence. Most of the pronouns are that way, though at least most of them are indicative of gender, unlike “em”.

Will try to post the video today or tomorrow.
