Live Writer 2009
Here’s a little how-to for those interested in using Live Writer 2009 for their blog writing.
First, you’ll need to download the software – it’s free. Click here to go to the download page, click the Download button on the page, then run the file you downloaded.
You will see a list of the Live family of software. Simply check which pieces you want, only check Writer if that’s all you want. Click Install and let it do its thing. When it’s done, it will prompt you for a Live ID, or to create one – you can simply click Close and skip that if you want.
Now, go to your Start Menu and run the program.
The first time you run it, it will step you through setting things up. On the following screen, select Other blog service.
On the next screen enter the address of the blog, username and password. Click Next and it will gather info it needs.
It will then prompt you to make a temporary post to detect theme settings. Skip that by selecting No. Name the blog on the next page and click Finish.
Now, you’re ready to make a post. At the top, click New > Post. At the bottom select the categories you want for the posting, then set the publish date.
When you are all done writing, click Publish at the top left and it will be sent to the blog. If you aren’t ready to actually publish the post yet, click Save Draft at the top and you can come back and edit the post later before publishing it.
