Just a Few Pictures

Posted on: Sunday, February 17th, 2008 in: Adoption, Celebrations and Holidays, Vietnam

This is a picture of Micaela, Andrew, and Parker. They were all at the same orphanage in Viet Nam and are within a month or so of each other age-wise. Micaela and Parker came home in May 2007, and Andrew in July. Micaela’s parents and I were in the same travel group. This was taken [...]

Happy New Year!

Posted on: Monday, December 31st, 2007 in: Celebrations and Holidays, Home Life

For some 2008 has already arrived. Hope your New Year is a great one!
I think I am going to stay in tonight. I was invited to a party, and I had planned on at least making an appearance, but I really don’t feel like it. I’d rather just relax at home. Maybe go out to [...]

Happy Birthday

Posted on: Sunday, December 23rd, 2007 in: Adoption, Celebrations and Holidays, Home Life

Today was Parker An’s actual birthday. We didn’t really do anything except spend time together, and we went to my friend Elizabeth’s holiday party for a couple of hours. I also told Parker that his mom in Viet Nam was surely thinking of him extra today.
He’s babbling a lot, and can sort of say a [...]

The First Birthday

Posted on: Tuesday, December 18th, 2007 in: Celebrations and Holidays, Home Life

Parker An’s first birthday party was this past Saturday, the 15th. It was lots of fun and went well. We had about 20 people, including 8 other children. Parker was great the whole time. We had a dragon theme. Here are some pictures - lots of pictures!
Can I have some wine?
The cake

A Big Weekend

Posted on: Tuesday, December 11th, 2007 in: Celebrations and Holidays, Home Life

This weekend is Parker An’s 1st birthday party! It should be lots of fun, there are about 20 people coming. He’ll officially be 1 the weekend after, but I figured having a birthday party 2 days before most of the US is celebrating Christmas would not work out too well.
I will post lots of pictures, [...]

Mad World

Posted on: Friday, December 7th, 2007 in: Celebrations and Holidays, Entertainment, Home Life

I love the song Mad World by Gary Jules, made famous in the fantastic movie Donnie Darko. It’s greatly depressing, luscious, and inspiring all at the same time.
I am really looking forward to seeing two movies that both come out today; Atonement and The Golden Compass. I’ll probably have to wait until they come out [...]

Happy Chanukah

Posted on: Tuesday, December 4th, 2007 in: Celebrations and Holidays

First night of Chanukah!
My holiday cards came in yesterday. I’m pretty happy with them, but they could be a bit better. The first batch is ready to go in the mail tomorrow, the rest hopefully by Friday.
Too tired to write anything else coherent at the moment - I’m gonna go make bottles for tomorrow, and [...]

That Was Easy

Posted on: Thursday, November 29th, 2007 in: Celebrations and Holidays, Home Life

I just finished all my Chanukah/Holiday shopping tonight. Sweet! I ordered my holiday greeting cards, too…they should be in by next Thursday, and hopefully I can have them all mailed by the end of that next weekend, the 9th, I think.
One of my female rats grew testicles over the last 3 days. So, either it [...]

Back To Work

Posted on: Monday, November 26th, 2007 in: Celebrations and Holidays, Home Life

Ugh - back to work after those very nice 4 days off - no fun! I’m not really in the mood to recount every minute of the last 4 days, so here’s the quick and highly abridged rundown.

Went over to my parents’ house around 8:00 AM Thursday.
Hang out, play with Parker An.
Made stuffing/dressing - put [...]
